Nigel Jemson joins Kick Start

Posted: 20th June '11

Kick Start Football Development are delighted to announce that Nigel Jemson has joined their coaching staff.

Nigel spent over 20 years playing as a professional footballer, starting at his home town club, Preston North End. Via Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Notts County, Nigel is now a member of the Kick Start team and will be a valued addition to the current coaching staff.

Arguably, the highlight of his career was the goal he scored in the 1990 League Cup Final for Nottingham Forest against Oldham Athletic. It resulted to be the winner, and the only goal of the game.

In January 2003, Nigel famously scored the goals that knocked Everton out of the FA Cup 3rd round during his time in Shrewsbury Town. He put the Shrews into a first half lead with a free kick, and after an equaliser for Everton, he glanced a last minute header past Richard Wright, to give Shrewsbury Town a famous FA Cup victory.

Nigel will be working alongside fellow UEFA B Licensed coach Nick Fairey at the Brooksby Melton College Football Academy, as well as in Skills Academies in Nottinghamshire.

Director of Kick Start, Dan Leivers is delighted to welcome Nigel to the company. “It’s not often you can find a coach with the experience and knowledge of a professional footballer, who also has the passion to be a part of the grass roots game. Nigel is all of the above and we can’t wait to get him onto the coaching field with us.”
